经济援助及特殊情况

The “大学 财政援助办事处 recognizes there may be special 情况下 that affect a student’s eligibility for aid, that were 不 accounted for on the Free Application for Federal Student 援助 (FAFSA) or CA梦想法案 Application (CADAA). 

It is important that the student make us aware of 情况下 that they believe 没有准确反映在你的FAFSA或CADAA上.  在特殊情况下， 美国.S. Department of Education gives 金融援助 staff the ability to make adjustments to the data on the FAFSA or CADAA to more accurately reflect the student’s and/or 父母的家庭现状.

Students who are unable to provide parent data on the FAFSA, can indicate on the FAFSA that they believe they have special 情况下 that prevent 它们不能提供父数据. The Special Circumstance Petition (EFC adjustment) allows you to request a change in the input data in the expected Family Contribution (EFC) calculation due to unusual 情况下. The following may be considered for a Special Circumstance Petition (EFC adjustment):

  • recent unemployment of a family member or an independent student;

  • medical, dental, or nursing home expenses 不 covered by insurance;

  • a student or family member who is a dislocated worker (as defined in section 101 of 1998年《韦德1946网站》;
  • the number of parents enrolled at least half time in a degree, certificate, or other program leading to a recognized educational credential at an institution with a program 第487条规定的参与协议;
  • a change in housing status that results in an individual being homeless (as defined in section 103 of the McKinney-Vento 首页less Assistance Act); or
  • other changes in a family’s income, a family’s assets or a student’s status.

The following will NOT be considered for a Special Circumstance Petition (EFC adjustment):

  • Private elementary or secondary school tuition (unless required by learning disabilities 诸如此类)
  • Pending reduction in income due to fluctuating commissions, consumer debt (unless (因经济困难而必需)
  • Refusal of a parent to provide financial support to the applicant/student

Note: If you already have an EFC of zero (0) there is no need to complete this form.

Please be sure the student’s FAFSA has been completed and all required documentation 在填写特殊情况表格前提交.

Under certain 情况下, students who fail to meet SAP standards and lose eligibility for financial aid may appeal the financial aid disqualification. 上诉程序 is 不 required by the Department of Education and is at the discretion of the colleges.
